About Christopher J.
Christopher J. Peyton entered the legal profession after completing both his law and civil law degrees at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2016. He had previously earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in economics from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2012. Those academic steps set a practical foundation for the work he does now.
Peyton earned a J.D. and a D.C.L. in 2016. The dual degree exposed him to both common-law and civil-law traditions. That combination is a frequent point of reference in Louisiana practice. It also shaped the way he approaches statutory and contractual questions.
He is an associate at Kean Miller LLP. In that capacity he contributes to client matters across the firm’s Louisiana offices. His day-to-day tasks include legal research, drafting, and advising partners and clients on issues that arise under state law. The firm role places him on teams that handle transactional and litigation matters when those issues intersect with Louisiana statutes and court practice.
Peyton has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 2016. He maintains that membership while practicing in the state. The association membership keeps him connected to developments in Louisiana jurisprudence and to colleagues across practice areas.
Before law school, Peyton studied economics. That background informs his legal work. He tends to approach problems analytically, paying attention to the financial and economic effects of legal decisions. That perspective matters in matters where contracts, regulatory compliance, or business arrangements are central to a client’s position.
Colleagues describe Peyton as methodical in his preparation and straightforward in his writing. He writes pleadings, memoranda, and transactional documents that aim to be clear and useful. He also spends time staying current on Louisiana case law and statutory changes that affect the firm’s clients.
He practices in Louisiana and handles matters that arise under the state’s laws. He currently works at Kean Miller LLP, representing clients in matters governed by Louisiana law.
