About Christopher J.

Christopher J. Johnson studied at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts. He went on to receive his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology. His academic years combined a Midwestern undergraduate education with legal training in Chicago.

Johnson began practicing law in 2004 when he joined Foreman & Abels, P.C. as an associate. He spent the next phase of his early career at Parente & Norem, P.C., starting in 2006. Those first positions gave him hands-on experience in court work and case preparation, and they set the stage for a move into firm leadership.

In 2008 he became a partner at Katz, Friedman, Eisenstein, Johnson, Bareck & Bertuca. The partnership marked a change in responsibilities. He took on case management, client counsel, and a broader role in directing litigation strategy. Over time he built a practice that spans both state and federal forums.

He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois, in Illinois state courts, and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in trial courts across the region. He routinely appears in filings and hearings in the jurisdictions where he is licensed.

Johnson maintains active membership in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He also belongs to the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Workers’ Compensation Law Association. Those affiliations reflect the kinds of matters he handles and his ongoing engagement with professional education and bar activities.

At Katz, Friedman, Eisenstein, Johnson, Bareck & Bertuca he continues to serve as a partner, handling litigation and supervising other lawyers in the firm. He is known within his firm for steady courtroom preparation and practical case management. His current practice concentrates on civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters.
