About Christopher J.
Christopher J. Hudson began his legal path at the University of Georgia, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science in 2000. He stayed in-state for law school and received his J.D. from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2003. Those years laid the groundwork for a career that moved between the courtroom, the bench and local law enforcement.
Fresh out of law school Hudson joined Fulcher Hagler in 2003. He spent the early part of his career practicing as a lawyer and gaining experience in litigation. A decade later he took on judicial responsibilities, serving as a magistrate judge in Columbia County Magistrate Court in 2013. The following year he began a series of municipal judge appointments, sitting for the courts in Wrens, Blythe and Stapleton, Georgia in 2014. In 2015 he became chief municipal judge for the municipal court of Waynesboro.
Hudson’s career also includes law enforcement work. He served as a deputy sheriff in Burke County in 2020 and later with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in 2022. Those roles added a practical layer to his understanding of criminal procedure and the workings of local agencies.
He is admitted to practice before state and federal tribunals. His admissions include the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the state courts of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, the District of Columbia and the courts of South Carolina.
Outside of official roles he has maintained active ties to the local and professional community. He holds memberships in the State Bar of Georgia and the State Bar of South Carolina, and belongs to the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Augusta Bar Association. He is also involved in local organizations such as the Young Lawyers of Augusta, the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, the Builders Association of Metro Augusta and the Augusta Mortgage Bankers Association. Judicial peers and municipal colleagues know him through the Council of Magistrate Judges and the Council of Municipal Judges in Georgia. He is also a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Today Hudson practices as a trial lawyer at Chris Hudson Law Group. He continues to split his time between courtroom work and roles that touch local government and law enforcement. He currently focuses his practice on courtroom litigation and related legal proceedings.
