About Christopher C.
Christopher C. Phillips built a path to law from two different campuses. He completed an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science at Texas Tech University in 2000. Three years later he earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, a credential that preceded his move into private practice and teaching.
His early career mixed firm work and instruction. In 2008 he joined the Law Offices of Bowman & Associates, where he handled matters typical for a small firm attorney and gained courtroom experience. The following year he took a position as an instructor at the University of Phoenix. That role allowed him to teach while staying connected to practice and to students considering legal careers.
In 2011 he opened his own firm, Phillips Law. Running a solo practice reshaped his day-to-day work. He took responsibility for client intake, case strategy, filings and courtroom appearances. The switch also required him to manage the business side of law—billing, client relations and the administrative tasks that come with ownership.
Phillips is admitted to practice in California and in the Ninth Circuit. Those jurisdictions frame the types of matters he handles and the courts he appears before. Over time his practice has reflected the mix of litigation and client counseling typical of a small firm handling state and federal matters.
Peers and clients describe him as pragmatic in court and direct in correspondence. He tends to approach cases by breaking complex issues into their essential parts and addressing immediate procedural needs. That style is suited to a practice where deadlines and filings can determine outcomes as much as the underlying law.
Beyond the office he has kept ties to legal education through his earlier teaching post. That experience informs how he explains legal options to clients and how he prepares witnesses and documents for trial. He has continued to handle the variety of tasks an owner-lawyer faces, from initial case assessment to motions and hearings.
Today he operates Phillips Law and represents clients in matters brought in California courts and before the Ninth Circuit. He currently focuses his practice on representing clients in California courts and in the Ninth Circuit.
