About Chris
Chris Mattix combines an accounting background and a law degree. He began his undergraduate studies at Truman State University, earning a B.S. in Finance in 2004. He returned to Truman for a master’s degree in accounting and then completed a J.D. at the University of Kansas, where his coursework emphasized tax and corporate law.
He started his professional career in public accounting. In 2008 he joined Ernst & Young as a tax senior. That role placed him at the intersection of complex tax regulations and client advisory work. The move to law followed, and his early legal roles reflect that blend of tax and corporate matters.
In 2014 he served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Robert D. Berger at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas. The externship gave him front-line exposure to bankruptcy procedure and the way federal courts handle creditor-debtor disputes. That same year he worked as an associate at Bever Dye, LC, handling matters that drew on both his accounting training and his legal studies.
He took on a supervisory position at Marks Nelson in 2016. Two years later he joined White Goss, a Professional Corporation, as an associate lawyer. Those roles involved client counseling, transactional work, and litigation support. Across engagements he has worked on tax planning, corporate governance, and issues that require coordination between financial and legal advisors.
He is licensed to practice law in Kansas and holds a Certified Public Accountant credential in Missouri. He is admitted to appear in the 8th Circuit, the 10th Circuit and the Federal Circuit, and his practice has included matters in both Kansas and Missouri courts. Professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (since 2010), the American Bar Association (since 2015), the Missouri Bar Association (since 2015) and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (since 2015). Those affiliations reflect the dual nature of his work across tax, accounting and corporate law.
He maintains an office at 4510 Belleview Ave. His background in finance and accounting informs his approach to legal problems. He currently focuses his practice on tax and corporate matters, often handling issues that bridge accounting and legal analysis.
