About Cherri L.

Cherri L. Shelton earned her J.D. from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 2010. She entered the Georgia legal community shortly thereafter and has remained active in state bar activities since that year. Her legal training in Atlanta provided the foundation for a practice grounded in state law and professional standards.

Shelton has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 2010. She joined the Committee on Professionalism in 2015, taking part in discussions and programming aimed at maintaining ethical standards across the profession. In 2018 she added service on the Local & Voluntary Bars Committee, a role that connects local practitioners and volunteer bar groups with the broader work of the state bar.

Outside those committees, Shelton belongs to several membership organizations that reflect the communities she serves. She joined the National Employment Lawyers Association, Georgia Chapter, in 2013. That same year she became a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Lawyers; she later added membership in the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers in 2018. These affiliations place her in regular contact with peers who handle workplace issues and civil litigation, and they provide continuing education and networking opportunities.

Shelton’s professional activity over the years shows steady engagement rather than a single, dramatic pivot. Her committee work and association memberships suggest an interest in both professionalism and employment-related practice areas. She balances bar work with client matters and stays involved in local and state bar initiatives that shape practice on the ground in Georgia.

She practices through Shelton Law Practice, LLC. There she handles cases and counsels clients in matters that reflect her memberships and committee service. Her approach is practical and procedural; she pays attention to rules of ethics and to the procedural posture of each matter she accepts.

Her current practice concentrates on employment law and related civil litigation.
