About Charlotte
Charlotte Culbertson built her legal foundation in Minnesota courts. She began her career as a district court law clerk in the State of Minnesota Tenth Judicial District in 2016. The clerkship exposed her to trial dockets, opinion drafting and routine judicial research. She worked closely with judges and staff, learning the procedural rhythms of trial-level practice.
After her clerkship, Culbertson moved to public defense. In 2019 she joined the State of MN Board of Public Defenders. There she represented clients at various stages of criminal cases. The role required courtroom appearances, client interviews and case preparation under tight deadlines. Those years sharpened her trial skills and deepened her familiarity with criminal procedure.
In 2021 she shifted to private practice and opened Culbertson Law. As owner, she handles intake, strategy and litigation tasks that mirror the work she did earlier in her public service. Running a small firm has added business responsibilities. She now manages client relationships, filings and the daily operation of the practice.
Colleagues describe her work style as pragmatic and direct. She approaches cases by breaking problems into manageable parts. That method grew out of balancing heavy caseloads in public defense and the detail-oriented requirements of judicial work. It informs how she prepares for hearings and organizes trial materials.
Culbertson maintains current professional memberships. She has continued contacts in the court system built during her clerkship and defender work. Those connections give her perspective on how different parts of the system operate and on practical courtroom practice.
She now leads Culbertson Law PLLC and represents clients in defense matters, drawing on experience from both the bench and public defense practice.
