About Charlie

Charlie Gray built a legal foundation through a mix of state and international study. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from North Carolina State University, then completed a Juris Doctor at Campbell University. After law school he pursued further legal study and received an LL.M. from Nottingham Law School.

Those academic steps were followed by courtroom and office work. Early in his career he served as an associate at the Law Offices of Anna E. Smith, PLLC. In that role he handled filings, drafted pleadings and worked on case preparation. The position gave him day-to-day experience in client work and litigation practice within North Carolina.

Gray is admitted to practice in North Carolina and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. That combination allows him to handle matters that begin in state courts and, where necessary, move into the federal appellate system. He has experience preparing appellate filings and briefs, and he participates in the procedural work that appellate matters require.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in how he approaches legal problems. He balances close attention to procedural detail with an effort to lay out issues clearly for clients and judges. His training at Nottingham Law School broadened his perspective on legal analysis and research, and his time at Campbell University and North Carolina State University provided grounding in the practical and political context that often underlies disputes.

At the present stage of his career he practices at Law Offices of Anna Smith Felts, PLLC. There he continues to work on matters that arise in state court and, when appeals follow, in the Fourth Circuit. His role involves client counseling, drafting court filings and representing clients through different stages of litigation. He also assists on the research and writing tasks that underpin appellate work.

Gray keeps to a steady, workmanlike approach in court and in client interactions. He pays attention to the procedural steps that shape a case and to the clear presentation of legal arguments. He maintains active practice licensure in jurisdictions that let him work across both trial and appellate levels.

He is currently practicing at Law Offices of Anna Smith Felts, PLLC and represents clients in matters in North Carolina and in proceedings before the Fourth Circuit.
