About Charles Thomas
Charles Thomas Slaughter began his legal path in Columbia. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina in 2006 and stayed in town to complete his Juris Doctor at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2009. Those years framed his interest in courtroom work and civil litigation.
He entered practice after law school and built his career around trial and appellate work. He joins fact and law in written briefs and in court. Over time he added federal admissions to his state licenses, enabling him to handle cases in both district and appellate forums.
Slaughter is admitted to practice in South Carolina and Georgia. His federal admissions include the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. That mix of state and federal credentials lets him handle matters that move beyond a single forum.
He is a member of several professional organizations. He holds memberships in the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association and the Georgia Bar Association. He also belongs to the Lexington County Bar Association and the South Carolina Association for Justice. Those memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with the professional community and the practical issues trial lawyers confront.
His practice is based at Morgan Litigation Group. There he works on litigation matters that require trial preparation, motions practice and, when necessary, appellate briefing. His work involves managing factual investigation, coordinating discovery and arguing before judges and juries.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases. He breaks complex factual patterns into discrete legal issues. That approach shapes how he presents evidence and frames legal arguments. It also informs how he coordinates with clients, experts and opposing counsel.
Outside the courtroom he has continued to follow developments in procedural and substantive law that affect trial strategy. He watches appellate rulings that reshape standards of review and admissibility, and he adjusts litigation plans accordingly.
He practices at Morgan Litigation Group, where he handles civil litigation matters across state and federal courts.
