About Michael Ryan
Michael Ryan Loignon grew up around the language of law and public service. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Citadel in 2004 and later completed his Juris Doctor at Charleston School of Law in 2013. Those years framed his approach to courtroom procedure and client advocacy. They also set the stage for a career that has moved between public roles and private practice.
He began his legal work at the South Carolina Department of Social Services in 2013, taking on cases that required quick assessment and careful handling of sensitive family matters. The next year he joined the Charleston County Public Defender's Office, where he represented clients in criminal matters and learned to manage high caseloads under tight deadlines. Those early positions gave him frequent time in court and a steady exposure to the practical demands of trial work.
In 2019 Loignon moved into private practice as an associate at Young, Clement, Rivers, LLP. There he handled a mix of civil and criminal matters and worked on cases that required negotiation as well as trial preparation. The transition offered more varied client work and a different pace. It also provided experience in dealing with private clients and opposing counsel outside the public defender framework.
He opened his own firm, Loignon Law Office, LLC, in 2021. As owner, he manages client intake, case strategy and the day-to-day operation of the office. Running a small firm has meant balancing courtroom work with administrative responsibilities. It has also allowed him to shape how cases move from initial consultation to resolution.
Loignon holds a Guardian ad Litem certification from the South Carolina Bar Association and is licensed to practice in South Carolina. That certification supports his work in family and juvenile matters where a court-appointed advocate is required. He maintains professional memberships and continues to handle a range of cases that reflect his background in both public defense and civil practice. His current practice emphasizes courtroom representation and advocacy for clients in state matters.
