About Charles D.

Charles D. Koehler began his academic journey at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where he earned a B.A. in 1973, majoring in mathematics and minoring in psychology. He stayed in Wisconsin for law school and received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1978. Those years set a steady foundation for a long legal career in the state.

Soon after law school, Koehler joined Herrling Clark Law Office Ltd. as a lawyer in 1978. He has remained with the firm for decades, building a practice rooted in the local legal community. Colleagues describe him as a steady presence at the firm’s regional offices, where he has worked through changing legal landscapes and shifting client needs.

Outside the firm, Koehler has taken on roles that tie him to the wider bar and community organizations. Since 2003 he has served as Chairman of District 6 for the State Bar of Wisconsin Fee Arbitration program, overseeing fee dispute proceedings for the district. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Community Real Estate and Personal Property Foundation, Inc. since 2004, a post that places him at the intersection of legal practice and property-related community concerns. He is also a member of the Outagamie County Bar Association.

Koehler is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and in the federal courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. Those admissions enable him to handle matters that arise in state court as well as in the federal system. Over the years he has managed client matters from the firm’s regional footprint and has developed practical familiarity with courtroom procedures and dispute resolution across those jurisdictions.

He works from Herrling Clark’s Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh offices, serving clients across the region. His work at the State Bar fee arbitration program and on the community property foundation’s board reflect a career that blends practice, local bar service and community involvement. He maintains an active practice at Herrling Clark Law Office LTD., handling matters in state and federal courts from the firm’s Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh offices.
