About Chance Allen
Chance Allen McMillan built a legal path that began in the classroom. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Saint Thomas in 2004 and earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2011. Those years set the groundwork for a practice in Texas courts and trial work.
He entered the profession as an associate at Thurlow & Associates in 2011. There he handled civil matters and learned the practical work of litigation: preparing discovery, taking depositions, and appearing in hearings. The early docket work gave him experience on both routine and contested files.
In 2017 he helped found Garcia|McMillan Law Office. As a founding partner he split time between case development and trial preparation. Two years later he launched McMillan Law Office, assuming ownership in 2019. Running a smaller firm shifted his day-to-day role toward client intake, file strategy, and courtroom advocacy. The change also required managing the business side of practice, from staffing to client communications.
McMillan holds board certification in Personal Injury Trial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That credential signals time spent trying cases and meeting standards set by the state for trial work. He is admitted to practice in Texas and has maintained membership in the State Bar of Texas since 2011.
Outside the office he is active in professional and community organizations. He is a fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation and belongs to the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court. He serves on several committees of local and state trial lawyer associations, including roles on bylaws and CLE planning panels. He volunteers with the American Heart Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and has participated in pro bono and legal clinic efforts through the Houston Bar Association. His memberships also include the American Association for Justice and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
Colleagues describe him as a trial-oriented lawyer who handles the practical and procedural demands of civil litigation. He takes case work from the initial interview through settlement talks or trial, depending on what a client’s matter requires. He continues to accept cases through McMillan Law Office and to remain involved in trial lawyer groups and local bar activities.
He currently leads McMillan Law Office, handling personal injury litigation and related civil claims.
