About Chad
Chad Points earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1998 after completing a B.A. in Philosophy at Austin College in 1993. His formal training combined legal studies with a background in liberal arts, a pairing that shaped how he approaches complex legal questions. He is licensed to practice in Texas.
He began his legal career in 1998 as an associate at Houssiere, Durant & Houssiere LLP. The early years were spent learning courtroom procedure, client handling and the rhythm of litigation. Five years later he struck out on his own. In 2003 he co-founded Denena & Points, P.C., and has been a partner there since.
Over time Points built a practice centered on trial work. He is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that reflects specific trial experience and peer review rather than a classroom credential alone. That certification informs the types of cases he takes to trial and how he prepares them. His docket has included contested hearings and jury trials, and he has developed routines for case evaluation, witness preparation and presenting evidence to juries and judges.
Outside the courtroom he remains engaged with professional organizations that keep him connected to developments in trial practice. He holds memberships in the Texas Bar Association and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. He also belongs to the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the American League of Justice and the Lawyers Information Exchange Group. Those affiliations offer regular opportunities to exchange ideas, attend seminars and follow changes in civil procedure and case law.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in the courtroom and thorough in preparation. He tends to measure success by how clearly a case is presented and how well a client understands the options available. He favors a straightforward approach at deposition and trial. His work reflects an emphasis on trial readiness, ensuring evidence is admissible and witnesses are prepared to tell their story.
Today Points continues to practice at Denena & Points, PC, handling personal injury trial matters across Texas. He maintains an active role in litigation and trial advocacy and remains engaged with bar and trial lawyer groups that shape litigation practice in the state.
