Catherine DeBono Holmes is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1977. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Holmes is a partner at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, a full-service law firm located in Los Angeles, California. She has been practicing law for over 40 years, serving clients throughout California and beyond.
Ms. Holmes earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she graduated in 1977. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. During her time at Berkeley Law, she was a member of the California Law Review and served as a legal intern to Justice Frank Richardson of the California Supreme Court.
Ms. Holmes concentrates her practice in the areas of business and corporate law, with a particular focus on investment capital and securities law. She represents real estate developers and business owners in matters involving the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program, assisting them in obtaining financing for hotel, multi-family, and mixed-use developments. Her practice encompasses all stages of these transactions, including structuring and offering private investment funds, preparing private placement memorandums, and ensuring compliance with U.S. federal and state securities laws.
Throughout her career, Ms. Holmes has handled cases in various courts, including the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, she worked as an associate at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips for several years.
Ms. Holmes is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the State Bar of California. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and is a member of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. She has also been involved with the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Los Angeles Chapter, serving on its Board of Directors, and with the Boalt Hall Alumni Association. Additionally, she is a member of the Sandpipers, a community organization in the South Bay area of Southern California. Ms. Holmes is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
