About Catherine Becker

Catherine Becker Good built her legal foundation in Boston. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northeastern University in 1985. She then completed her J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 1988. Those years in the city shaped the start of a long practice rooted in Massachusetts courts.

Her early years in the profession were spent learning the mechanics of courtroom work and client counseling. She began practicing in Massachusetts after law school and developed experience in both trial-level matters and appeals. Over time she added appearances in federal court to her work, including admission to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Her career has included a mixture of courtroom appearances and written advocacy. She has prepared briefs for appellate review and represented clients in hearings in state tribunals. That combination of oral argument and written work became a consistent feature of her approach to cases. Colleagues describe her as thorough in preparation and practical in advising clients about litigation risks and procedural choices.

Civic and professional participation has been part of her path. She has engaged with local legal circles on questions of procedure and appellate practice. That involvement helped her stay current on changes in court rules and appellate precedent. It also offered regular opportunities to mentor younger lawyers entering litigation and appellate work.

She has kept her practice anchored in Massachusetts while maintaining credentials to appear in the First Circuit. That dual registration reflects the mix of state and federal litigation she handles. Over the years she has balanced contested proceedings with negotiated resolutions, and she has worked on matters that required both oral argument and extended written submissions to judges.

As of 2026 she continues to practice in Massachusetts and remains admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Her current practice is based in Massachusetts and includes representation in state courts and appellate matters in the First Circuit.
