About Cassie
Cassie Clagett began her academic path at Saint Mary’s College, where she earned a B.B.A. in marketing and management in 2002. She continued her studies at Thomas M. Cooley Law School and received her J.D. in 2005. That combination of business and law shaped the early contours of a career spent largely in litigation and client counseling.
Fresh out of law school she joined Krohn & Moss in 2005. The role exposed her to consumer and debt-collection litigation at a time when those practice areas were adapting to new federal rules and technological changes. She moved to Kerrick Bachert, PSC in 2011, where she spent several years handling courtroom work and pretrial matters. In 2015 she took a position at Aldridge & Aldridge and continued to expand her trial experience.
In 2017 Clagett became a partner at Clagett & Barnett, PLLC. That partnership marked a transition from associate roles to firm leadership and client management. She led case teams, oversaw discovery strategies and handled appellate filings. After several years in that role she established Clagett Law in 2024 and began operating under her own firm name.
Clagett is admitted to multiple bars. She has been a member of the State Bar of Illinois since 2005, the District of Columbia Bar and the State Bar of Minnesota since 2006, and the Kentucky Bar Association since 2007. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Those admissions mean she has experience filing appellate briefs and appearing in federal appellate courts in addition to state trial work.
Colleagues describe her courtroom manner as direct and practical. She balances written advocacy with oral argument, and she has handled matters at different stages of litigation. Her background in marketing and management informs how she approaches client communications and case planning. Over time she has taken on both individual and institutional clients and adjusted litigation tactics to match case complexity.
Her practice today is centered at Clagett Law. She represents clients in state and federal courts across the jurisdictions where she is admitted and handles both trial and appellate matters in those forums.
