About Carrie May

Carrie May Luelling built a foundation in both the sciences and the law. She earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Portland, followed by a Master of Science from Washington State University’s Vancouver campus. She returned to Oregon for her legal training, completing a J.D. at Willamette University College of Law. Those three degrees form a clear academic arc: undergraduate science, graduate study in a technical field, and professional legal education.

The combination of technical study and legal training shapes how she approaches problems. The M.S. offered a grounding in research methods and data analysis. The J.D. added legal reasoning and practical skills used in client work. She draws on both kinds of training when assessing complex facts, explaining technical issues to non-experts, and organizing written work for judges or regulators.

After law school she entered practice. Her career path has encompassed the routine tasks that define modern legal work: drafting pleadings and contracts, conducting legal research, preparing motions and memos, and advising clients on procedural matters. She has handled matters that required careful documentary review and precise legal writing. Those experiences reinforced the attention to detail and methodical habits developed during her graduate studies.

Her background allows her to bridge two different professional languages. Technical reports and scientific data can sit side by side with statutes and case law, and she is comfortable moving between the two. That translates into a practice style that is methodical and evidence-oriented. Colleagues and clients who have worked with her have found the dual perspective useful when cases raise technical questions that do not fit neatly into a single area of law.

As of 2026 she maintains an active legal practice. Her current work continues to draw on the combination of legal training and scientific understanding that has defined her education and career to date. She is based in the Pacific Northwest and handles matters that benefit from careful analysis and clear written presentation.
