About Carolyn
Carolyn Schaffer combines business training and legal education in a practice based in Colorado. She took a direct path through higher education, earning a B.S. in Economics from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2007, an MBA from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2011, and a J.D. from the same Denver law school in 2014. Those credentials set the stage for a career that intersects commercial issues and legal analysis.
After law school she entered the Colorado legal market. Over the years she has worked in environments that require translating financial concepts into legal strategy and explaining legal risk in business terms. She is admitted to practice in Colorado and maintains active ties to the professional community through current memberships in bar and other legal organizations.
Her background in economics and business informs how she approaches clients’ problems. She is comfortable reviewing complex contracts, examining transactional structures, and considering how legal choices affect budgets and business plans. At the same time she pays attention to the procedural and regulatory demands that shape litigation and compliance matters in the state.
Schaffer joined Thorburn Law Group, LLC, where she contributes that combined perspective to the firm’s work. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing file materials and clear in client communications. She is also attentive to deadlines and to the practical consequences of legal advice. Those habits matter in a region where companies and individuals often need timely, concrete guidance rather than theoretical treatments.
Outside of case work she remains connected to continuing legal education and professional networks. That keeps her current on evolving rules and on practical trends in Colorado law. Her current practice focuses on advising clients in Colorado where business and legal concerns intersect.
