About Camila Alexandra
Camila Alexandra McElwain earned her J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 2013. Her path into law mixed early practical experience and military service. Before law school she served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2000, a role that preceded her first legal support position in 2006.
Her early legal work included a stint as a legal clerk at Harrison Law Office, PLLC in 2006. That experience was followed by a position as Law Clerk II for the First Chancery Court District of Mississippi in 2011. Those roles placed her inside court operations and the day-to-day work of trial preparation during a formative period of her career.
After completing law school, she joined The Law Offices of Brian L. Starling, PA as an associate attorney in 2013. The associate role came at the start of her admitted practice and provided exposure to client representation and litigation practice in the state. She maintained professional ties to statewide and national bar organizations from early in her career.
McElwain holds memberships in several professional associations. She has been a member of the Mississippi Bar Association since 2013 and joined the American Bar Association the same year. Beginning in 2014 she became affiliated with the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, both of which she continues to list as current memberships. She is authorized to practice in Mississippi and is admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Her career reflects a steady progression from clerkships and support roles into full practice. The mix of chancery court experience, private-firm work and bar association involvement informs how she approaches cases. Colleagues and clients see her as someone who understands procedural detail and courtroom rhythm.
She now practices at McElwain Law Office, LLC. Her current work at the firm includes immigration matters and related civil case work.
