About Cameron Ross

Cameron Ross Monti built his legal foundation through a sequence of academic steps that emphasized law and tax. He earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law (2002). He holds a J.D. from Michigan State University (2001) and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois 6Chicago (1997). Those credentials set the stage for a career that has moved between courts, classrooms and private practice.

His early legal experience included a judicial externship for Chief Justice Elizabeth A. Weaver of the Michigan Supreme Court and a clerkship in the Office of the Vice President & General Counsel at the University of Michigan, both in 2000. Those roles exposed him to appellate procedure and institutional counsel work at an early point in his career. In 2002 he joined Lavelle Law, Ltd. as a partner, taking on responsibilities that mixed client counseling and litigation tasks.

Monti later shifted parts of his professional life toward teaching. In 2013 he served as an adjunct professor of tax law at The John Marshall Law School. Students under his instruction encountered practical tax questions alongside doctrinal material. The classroom role complemented his practice background and kept him engaged with emerging tax issues and younger lawyers entering the field.

In 2014 he became a lawyer and member of Howard & Howard Lawyers, PLLC. He maintains memberships in the Illinois Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the Federal Circuit. Those admissions reflect both state-level and federal appellate credentials.

Throughout his career Monti has concentrated on tax matters, handling both advisory work and dispute resolution. His LL.M. in Taxation and his teaching experience inform how he approaches complex tax questions. At the same time, his early court work left him familiar with appellate practice and the procedural demands of high-stakes matters.

Today he works out of Howard & Howard Lawyers, PLLC, where he continues to address tax issues for clients and to participate in appellate matters where federal admission is required. His current practice centers on tax matters, advising clients and handling litigation at Howard & Howard Lawyers, PLLC.
