Burton A. Mitchell is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1982 and holds bar number 79317. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Mitchell is a partner at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, a full-service law firm located in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Mitchell earned his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University in 1977. He furthered his legal education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1978. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the City University of New York at Baruch College, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1974. Additionally, he became a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland in 1975.

Mr. Mitchell concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, trust law, and taxation. He represents individuals and families in matters involving the creation and administration of trusts, estate planning strategies, and tax planning. His practice encompasses all stages of legal work, including initial consultations, document preparation, negotiations, and litigation when necessary. He also advises non-profit entities on obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status.

Throughout his career, Mr. Mitchell has handled cases in various courts, including the California Superior Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Tax Court. He has also appeared before the California Supreme Court. Prior to joining Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, he worked as an associate and later as an assistant managing partner at another law firm.

Mr. Mitchell is an active member of the American Bar Association and serves on the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization in Taxation Law. He is also a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law. He is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
