About Bryan Thomas

Bryan Thomas Kroes studied psychology and criminal justice at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee before earning his law degree from Marquette University Law School. He combined those academic interests early on, approaching legal problems with attention to human behavior and the practical realities of regulated industries. His education laid a foundation for work that crosses traditional practice lines and involves stakeholders from several sectors.

He built a practice in Wisconsin that draws on a mix of entertainment, construction and event-related matters. Memberships and professional affiliations reflect that mix. Over time he has taken on roles that go beyond private client work and into professional community-building, helping to bridge gaps between artists, producers, builders and municipal stakeholders.

Kroes helped found the Wisconsin Entertainment Lawyers Association in 2019 and continues to serve on its board as treasurer. He has been a member of the American Bar Association and its Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industry since 2018, and of local trade groups including the Metropolitan Builders Association and the Milwaukee chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. He also maintains membership in the Event Safety Alliance, a newer affiliation that aligns with the safety and logistics issues that can arise in live events and public venues.

He has held several community board positions as well. From 2016 to 2019 he served on the board of the Mitchell Street Development Opportunities Corporation. Earlier, he was a board member of Historic Milwaukee, Inc. from 2014 to 2016. Those stints gave him hands-on experience with neighborhood development, preservation concerns and the kinds of regulatory and contractual issues that often land on an attorney’s desk.

Kroes practices at Hurtado Zimmerman SC in Milwaukee, where he continues to work on matters connected to entertainment and the built environment. His day-to-day work involves counseling clients on legal and practical questions that arise at the intersection of events, venues and construction-related projects. He maintains an active role in local and national associations related to those fields, and continues to balance client work with board service and industry participation. His current practice focuses on entertainment law, construction and remodeling industry matters, and event safety issues.
