About Bryan L.

Bryan L. Spoon is an attorney who trained on the East Coast before returning to Montana to practice law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Vanderbilt University in 2003 and took his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law in 2008. Those academic roots put him in contact with both regional legal concerns and wider appellate practice.

He is admitted to practice in the State of Montana and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has been a member of the Montana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice since 2011. He also holds membership in the Montana Legal Services Association, an affiliation that connects private practitioners with public-interest work across the state.

Spoon joined Spoon Gordon Ballew, PLLP as a lawyer and practices with that firm. His work brings him into Montana’s trial courts and, where matters require, into filings at the federal appellate level. Colleagues and opposing counsel see him most often in contested settings, where procedure and courtroom presentation shape outcomes.

His profile in professional circles has grown through steady involvement in membership organizations. The Montana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice list him as a continuous member since 2011. Those memberships provide access to continuing legal education and forums for trial practice, which have informed his approach to case preparation and courtroom work.

Spoon’s background in English literature is visible in his writing. Legal briefs and motions he files reflect attention to narrative and clarity. That skill set complements the procedural demands of litigation and the briefing standards of appellate work.

Outside the courtroom, he participates in industry programs and meetings connected to his memberships. He keeps a practice grounded in Montana law while maintaining the ability to appear in the Ninth Circuit when appeals require it. He currently practices at Spoon Gordon Ballew, PLLP, where his work involves litigation in Montana and filings in the Ninth Circuit.
