About Brittany
Brittany Holmes trained in South Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina in Columbia and completed her legal education at Charleston School of Law. Those years set the groundwork for a career spent largely inside the criminal justice system.
Her first recorded public role was as an assistant solicitor in 2017 at the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office. There she handled cases on the prosecution side, gaining courtroom experience and exposure to case preparation under the responsibilities typical of a circuit solicitor's office. The work required managing docket pressures and making routine decisions about charge handling and plea negotiations.
In 2019 she moved to the Beaufort County Public Defender's Office. The shift took her to the defense table. As a public defender she represented clients facing a range of criminal charges. The role demanded fast case intake, client counseling, and an ability to respond to last-minute developments in court. It also deepened her familiarity with trial practice from the defense perspective.
In 2020 Holmes founded The Holmes Law Office. She opened her practice after three years in public service roles. Establishing a private practice required handling the administrative side of lawyering as well as client development and case strategy. Her office is now the base for her legal work and client meetings.
Holmes maintains membership in the South Carolina Bar and participates in the Hilton Head Bar Association. Those affiliations keep her connected to local legal networks and continuing legal education in the state. She appears to focus her professional activity within South Carolina, where she is licensed to practice.
Her career path — moving from prosecution to public defense and then to private practice — has given her experience on both sides of criminal cases. She is familiar with courtroom procedure, motions practice, and plea bargaining. She also handles client interviews and prepares cases for trial when necessary.
She currently leads The Holmes Law Office and practices in South Carolina, concentrating on criminal defense and related legal matters.
