About Clark

Clark Grounsell took an indirect route to law. He studied economics as an undergraduate, spent time thinking about how systems work and why people make the choices they do, then turned to the law after college. That combination of analytical training and legal study shapes the way he practices today.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of South Carolina in 2005. A few years later he enrolled at Charleston School of Law and received his J.D. in 2011. Those academic years left him with a pragmatic approach to cases. He favors clear reasoning over flourish and prefers to explain matters plainly to clients and judges alike.

He joined the South Carolina Bar in 2012 and established his practice soon after. Early work in the state courts exposed him to the pressures facing people caught up in criminal proceedings. He spent years learning courtroom procedure, evidence rules and how prosecutors build cases. The day-to-day experience sharpened his trial instincts and taught him how to weigh risks for clients who face difficult choices.

Grounsell founded Grounsell Law Office, LLC to handle criminal matters in South Carolina. He built the office to provide direct representation in county and state courts. The firm handles arraignments, pretrial hearings, plea negotiations and trials. He represents clients on a range of charges and attends to the practical questions that weigh on defendants and their families.

His professional memberships reflect that practice. He has been a member of the South Carolina Bar since 2012 and joined the Greenville Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2023. Those memberships keep him connected to developments in criminal law and to local trial lawyers who exchange practical tips and courtroom experiences.

Colleagues describe Grounsell as straightforward in court and attentive in client meetings. He prepares thoroughly for hearings and prefers to be ready for a trial when a case requires one. In client conferences he focuses on the choices that matter: whether to accept an offer, press for a dismissal, or prepare for trial. He aims for clear recommendations and honest assessments of likely outcomes.

He runs Grounsell Law Office, LLC out of South Carolina and continues to handle criminal defense matters in state courts. His current practice concentrates on defending clients in criminal cases across the state.
