About Brit

Brit Benjamin built her academic foundation on two California campuses. She completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, Berkeley in 2010, studying Interdisciplinary Field Studies with an emphasis on globalization and international trade. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2017.

After law school, Benjamin began practicing at Meakins Law in 2017. Her early years there involved courtroom exposure and client counseling in family law matters. She handled hearings and settlement discussions, and worked on a range of domestic relations issues that included custody, support, and property division. Those cases provided a steady introduction to the procedural and emotional complexities that define family law work in California.

In 2023 she opened Benjamin Family Law. Starting her own practice marked a change in daily rhythm. Case selection, client intake, and firm administration joined the legal work. The new office gave her more control over how files are managed and how clients move through the process. It also meant taking responsibility for both the legal strategy and the business side of a small practice.

Benjamin practices in California courts and represents clients in matters that typically arise after separation or divorce. She counsels on custody arrangements, visitation schedules, child and spousal support calculations, and property division. Her practice involves negotiation as well as litigation when necessary. She spends time explaining procedural options to clients and laying out likely timelines for hearings and trials.

Peers and clients describe her as pragmatic in conferences and detail-oriented on filings. She approaches discovery and financial disclosure with an eye toward thoroughness. In contested matters she prepares evidentiary exhibits and witness outlines. In negotiated settlements she frames proposals to address both present needs and foreseeable future disputes.

Outside the courtroom, Benjamin draws on her undergraduate studies in globalization and trade when dealing with complex financial portfolios and business valuations. The connections between financial documentation and family law outcomes often require careful translation into plain terms for judges and clients alike.

She continues to live and practice in California. Her current practice concentrates on family law matters in the state.
