About Brian
Brian C. Tanko is a dedicated attorney specializing in estate planning, probate, tax law, and elder law. His practice spans two states—Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kalispell, Montana—where he serves clients. With a strong educational background, Brian earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Creighton University School of Law in 1995. Before embarking on his legal career, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Creighton University in 1991. This foundation in business and finance has been invaluable in his legal practice.
Prior to law school, Brian gained significant experience as a Certified Public Accountant with Deloitte & Touche in Omaha, Nebraska. This role provided him with a understanding of financial matters, which is essential in his current practice areas. In 1995, shortly after graduating, he was admitted to the Nevada State Bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. His commitment to the legal profession extended to Montana, where he is also licensed to practice law, as well as before the U.S. Tax Court.
Brian's practice encompasses many services — He focuses on trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and tax planning. Additionally, he assists clients with Medicaid applications, Special Needs Trusts, and the administration of trusts and probate. His expertise extends to guardianships and conservatorships, real estate transactions, business planning, and succession planning. This comprehensive approach allows him to address the varied needs of his clients effectively. Active in professional organizations, Brian is a member of the Nevada State Bar, the Clark County Bar Association, and the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association. He also belongs to the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
These affiliations keep him informed about the latest developments in law and enhance his ability to serve his clients. Community service is a significant aspect of Brian's life. He and his wife, Victoria, played a crucial role in acquiring real estate for Sparrow’s Nest Northwest Montana, an organization dedicated to providing safe housing for unaccompanied homeless high school students. Furthermore, Brian has volunteered as a youth soccer coach and high school soccer coach at Flathead High School and Bigfork High School for over a decade.
