About Brian R.

Brian R. Davidson trained first as an industrial manager before turning to the law. He earned a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 1989 and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1994. The combination of a technical undergraduate degree and a legal education gives him a practical perspective on complex, document-driven disputes.

After law school Davidson built a career that has included both trial and appellate work. He is a partner at DFL Legal, where he represents clients in matters that arise out of commercial and construction activity. He has litigated in state and federal courts and has been involved in cases that require translating technical project records into legal claims and defenses.

Davidson is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Fifth Circuit, as well as the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Those admissions reflect a practice that spans trial courts and appellate forums and allows him to follow matters from initial filings through possible appeals.

His memberships include the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Construction Law Section, the American Bar Association’s Construction Law Section, and the Pennsylvania State Bar. Those associations align with the areas of law he handles. He regularly works on construction-related disputes involving contracts, claims for delay and disruption, and issues of surety and indemnity. His practice also involves addressing procedural and substantive issues that arise when projects span multiple jurisdictions.

Colleagues describe Davidson as methodical in assessing contract documents and project records. He is known for a pragmatic approach to case development and for preparing materials that are meant to be useful at both trial and on appeal. Over time he has developed experience in parsing technical reports and coordinating with outside consultants when disputes turn on engineering, scheduling, or cost issues.

He is a partner at DFL Legal and maintains an active litigation and appellate practice. He currently represents clients in construction and construction-related litigation at DFL Legal.
