About Brian
Brian Morgan has spent more than two decades practicing law in Illinois. He earned a J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1998 and built a career that moves between courtroom work and classroom instruction.
He began his public-service legal work as an Assistant State's Lawyer in Boone County in 2001. That role put him in the courtroom early, handling matters for the county and learning case management under pressure. In 2004 he took a position as an associate at Cicero and France, where he broadened his civil and criminal litigation work and handled a range of client matters.
In 2005 Morgan opened his own practice, the Law Office of Brian T. Morgan. Running a small firm brought new responsibilities. He took on the business aspects of a practice, supervised files, and continued to represent clients in trial settings. Two years later he added an academic angle to his resume, serving as an adjunct professor at Rockford Business College in 2007. The teaching role allowed him to explain practical aspects of the law to students and to reflect on courtroom strategies in a classroom setting.
Morgan is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. Supreme Court. He maintains memberships in local and state bar organizations, including the Winnebago County Bar Association, the Boone County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar. Since 2018 he has been a member of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and lists that affiliation as current. Those memberships connect him to colleagues across trial and appellate practice and keep him involved in local legal communities.
Across careers in prosecution, private practice and teaching, Morgan has handled matters at different stages of litigation. He has experience in trial procedures, client counseling and filing appellate pleadings when cases require further review. His background in county-level prosecution informs his approach to defense work in state court. He represents clients out of his own office and appears in Illinois courts as needed.
Today he operates the Law Office of Brian T. Morgan and continues to take cases in state courts, handling trial work and appeals where appropriate. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense and litigation in Illinois.
