About Brian M.
Brian M. Wendler earned his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale in 1987. He arrived at law school after undergraduate work in the early 1980s and left with a degree that launched a career spanning state and federal courts. He has maintained ties to the Midwest legal community throughout his career.
His bar admissions include Illinois and Missouri, and he is also admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits. Those admissions have allowed him to appear in both state trial courts and federal appellate venues. He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a peer-review indicator that figures into how courts and colleagues view an attorney’s standing.
Wendler serves as a certified arbitrator and mediator for the Madison County Circuit Court. That role places him on panels of neutrals and has him preside over private dispute resolution sessions as well as court-ordered alternative procedures. He has handled mediations and arbitrations involving a range of civil matters over the years. His certification identifies him as someone qualified to act as a third-party decision maker or settlement facilitator.
Colleagues describe Wendler as pragmatic and thorough in court filings. He is comfortable handling courtroom litigation as well as the quieter, more controlled setting of dispute resolution. His practice has required moving between state and federal procedures, and between advocacy and the neutral stance required in arbitration and mediation proceedings.
Outside of hearings and written motions, Wendler has participated in procedural and evidentiary hearings that require familiarity with the differing rules across jurisdictions. He has worked with attorneys and clients to prepare cases for trial and for alternative dispute resolution. He has also navigated appellate practice through admissions to the Seventh and Eighth Circuits.
As of 2026, Wendler continues to practice in the Midwest. He maintains his roles as a practicing attorney and as a certified arbitrator and mediator for the Madison County Circuit Court, balancing litigation work with dispute resolution duties. His current practice concentrates on civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
