About Tor
Tor Hoerman built his practice around courtroom work and complex litigation. He is a lawyer who moved from insurance defense to leading pharmaceutical and mass tort cases, and then into private practice as the founder of his own firm. His career spans more than two decades in state and federal courts.
Hoerman graduated from DePauw University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in political science. He earned his juris doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1995. Those academic years set the stage for a steady rise through litigation roles and increasingly responsible positions at several firms.
He began his legal career in insurance defense at Bullaro, Carton & Stone in 1995. That early work involved defending insurers and insureds in civil litigation. Two years later he joined Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz, where he handled a range of trial matters. Those formative years sharpened his skills at case preparation and courtroom procedure.
In 2003 Hoerman moved to SimmonsCooper LLC as a partner and took on the role of head of pharmaceutical litigation. At SimmonsCooper he worked on large, multi-party matters and cases involving drug and medical product claims. His responsibilities included managing discovery in complex files and coordinating with experts, counsel, and clients on litigation strategy in high-stakes matters.
He founded TorHoerman Law LLC in 2009 and serves as owner and managing partner. Since establishing the firm he has expanded its caseload and overseen litigation in multiple venues. The firm operates under the TorHoerman Law name at several locations. Over time his practice has emphasized product liability and mass tort litigation alongside traditional personal injury work.
Hoerman is admitted to practice in Illinois and Missouri, and he holds admissions to the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois as well as the Central District of California. He has been active in professional organizations for much of his career. He has been a member of the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar since 1995. He joined the American Association for Justice and the Madison County Bar Association in 2010. He has served on the executive board of the Mass Torts Trial Lawyers Association and on the board of managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association beginning in 2010 and 2014 respectively. He is also affiliated with The Injury Board and The Missouri Bar.
Hoerman continues to lead litigation for plaintiffs and oversees his firm's trial docket. His current practice focuses on product liability, mass torts and personal injury matters.
