About Brian

Brian Landy built a legal path that began in the classroom and moved steadily into courtroom work. He completed undergraduate studies in economics and music at the University of Michigan in 1986. Four years later he graduated from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, earning a J.D. in 1990 with coursework in general law and copyright.

He joined Mark Kitrick & Co., LPA as a law clerk in 1992 and took on the role of lawyer there in November 1993. That early continuity shaped the next decades of his career. He has handled a range of matters at the firm and remained connected to practice in Colorado during that time.

Landy is licensed to practice in Colorado. He has been a member of the Colorado Bar Association since 1995, a membership that reflects long-standing ties to the state’s legal community. Since 2012 he has also held membership in the Colorado Consumer Bankruptcy Association, a group that brings together practitioners who handle consumer insolvency matters.

Those affiliations point to areas of regular work, particularly consumer bankruptcy and related civil matters. His background in economics is relevant to financial restructuring and the numerical analysis those cases often require. His music studies are less conventional preparation for a law career, but colleagues note the discipline and pattern recognition that can be useful in legal problem solving.

Across more than three decades in practice, Landy has combined courtroom experience with client counseling and the procedural work that bankruptcy and civil litigation demand. He began in the field as a clerk, learned the daily mechanics of case preparation and then assumed greater responsibility as an attorney. That progression gave him hands-on familiarity with filing schedules, negotiating with creditors and presenting matters in bankruptcy court.

Professional membership has been a steady part of his career. The Colorado Bar Association membership dates to the mid-1990s and the consumer bankruptcy association enrollment began in 2012. These affiliations provide access to continuing legal education and local professional networks.

He continues to practice at Mark Kitrick & Co., LPA, handling consumer bankruptcy and related civil matters in Colorado.
