About Brian

Brian LaCien studied finance at the University of Iowa and completed his law degree at DePaul College of Law in 2002. He entered the legal profession after finishing law school and built a practice informed by both business training and courtroom procedure. His academic background in finance gives him an analytical grounding that he applies to legal problems that involve monetary and transactional issues.

He is admitted to practice in Illinois, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those admissions allow him to handle matters at both the trial and appellate levels. LaCien also maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Illinois Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He participates in bar and trial lawyer circles that keep him connected to developments in litigation practice.

LaCien’s career has been shaped by steady courtroom work and federal litigation experience. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and clear in oral argument. He approaches cases by breaking complex facts into manageable parts and by testing legal theories against practical consequences. That approach is visible in work that moves from initial pleadings through discovery and, where necessary, to hearings or appeals.

At Power Rogers he handles matters that require familiarity with federal procedure and state-court practice. The firm environment places him alongside other litigators and provides a platform for cases that progress through trial and appellate stages. He draws on his finance background when cases raise economic questions, and on his trial experience when presenting contested issues to judges and juries.

Outside of courtrooms and case files, LaCien stays engaged with the legal community through his association memberships and by following appellate precedent in the Seventh Circuit. He keeps current on procedural rules and case law that affect litigation strategies in both state and federal forums. He currently practices at Power Rogers, where his work centers on civil litigation and appellate matters.
