About Brian J.
Brian J. Bagley is a Colorado lawyer who has run his own practice for more than two decades. He opened The Bagley Law Office, LLC in 1999 and has led the firm as owner and senior managing partner since then. He balances court work and client meetings with occasional teaching and civic duties.
He holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy from Brigham Young University. His legal studies covered criminal law, family law and personal injury among other subjects, while his business studies emphasized general business and finance.
Before launching private practice, Bagley worked as a senior researcher on the Jim Collins Good to Great research project in 1996. That research role came after his undergraduate studies and before he completed his graduate degrees. He has also taught at the University of Colorado, serving as an adjunct and senior lecturer at the Leeds School of Business in 2008 and at the School of Law in 2010. Those teaching stints have included classroom instruction and guest lectures on legal and business topics.
Bagley is licensed to practice in Colorado and maintains federal admissions, including to the United States District Court and the Federal Circuit. In private practice he handles civil litigation, family law matters, criminal defense work and personal injury cases. His dual JD/MBA background informs how he approaches business and finance problems that arise in litigation and dispute resolution.
Civic life has been a recurring part of his career. He served on the Longmont City Council from 2011 to 2017 and was mayor of Longmont from 2017 to 2021. He remains involved in local economic development efforts, including membership in the Longmont Economic Development Partnership. He is a member of the Boulder County Bar and Phi Alpha Delta, and has been listed in the Million Dollar Settlement/Verdict Club since 2016. Earlier involvement included the Longmont Area Economic Council from 2009 to 2015. His community biography also notes longtime ties to the Boy Scouts; he is an Eagle Scout.
He continues to operate The Bagley Law Office, LLC in Colorado, where he concentrates his practice on civil litigation, family law, criminal defense and matters that intersect with business and finance.
