About Brian D.
Brian D. Zinn built a legal foundation that blends liberal arts and technical study before turning to the law. He earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied political science and astrophysics. He then attended Boston University School of Law and received his J.D. in the late 1980s. Those formative years set the stage for a career spent largely around insolvency, creditor and debtor matters.
Early in his career Zinn developed a practical approach to complex financial disputes. He worked on matters that required translating technical financial facts into usable arguments for judges and creditors. Over time he became a recognizable presence in regional bankruptcy circles. He served as president of the Southwest Florida Bankruptcy Professional Association, an experience that put him in frequent contact with bankruptcy trustees, judges and fellow practitioners across the district. He remains involved in the association and in local bar organizations.
Zinn holds memberships in the American Bar Association and the Florida Bar. He is also a member of both the Lee County and Collier County Bar Associations. Those affiliations reflect a practice that intersects statewide rules and local courtroom realities. Colleagues and opposing counsel often encounter him in matters that require a steady handling of procedural and commercial complexity.
His work has centered on insolvency-related litigation and negotiations. That has included representation of debtors, creditors and other parties in bankruptcy cases and related proceedings. He has handled contested matters, plan negotiations and creditor claims, and has worked on issues that touch both federal bankruptcy law and state remedies. The scope of his practice has meant regular appearances in bankruptcy court and ongoing interaction with trustees, creditors’ committees and secured lenders.
Zinn is principal of ZinnLaw PLLC. At the firm he combines litigation experience with transactional insight, advising clients on options that arise in financially stressed situations. He draws on his long involvement in the local bankruptcy community to advise clients about timing, procedural posture and likely outcomes under current law. His approach is pragmatic: lay out the choices, explain the legal and practical consequences, and pursue the path the client chooses.
He continues to practice at ZinnLaw PLLC, focusing on bankruptcy, creditor-debtor disputes and related commercial matters.
