About Brian D.
Brian D. Lipkin began his legal path at Tufts University, graduating in 2005, and completed his law degree at Boston College Law School in 2008. He entered the profession the same year, taking a law clerk position with the Massachusetts Superior Court. The early years gave him courtroom familiarity and an appreciation for procedural detail.
After his clerkship he moved into private practice. In 2010 he joined Melick & Porter as an associate, then moved to Rose Law Partners in 2012. Three years later he took an associate role at Babst Calland. Each step broadened his exposure to litigation and employment issues across state lines. In 2021 he became a partner at Houston Harbaugh, a role he currently holds.
Lipkin is admitted to practice in five states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and West Virginia. That multi-jurisdictional admission underpins work that often crosses state boundaries. Colleagues describe him as methodical in assembling case strategies and attentive to procedural deadlines. He has handled matters that require coordinating filings and discovery across different courts and counsel teams.
Professional involvement has been part of his calendar. Since 2022 he has served as treasurer of the Labor & Employment Section Council for the Allegheny County Bar Association. He participates in section meetings and in the administrative work required to keep the council running. The role keeps him connected to local practitioners and offers a forum for discussion of evolving employment law issues.
At Houston Harbaugh Lipkin practices as a partner. His background combines state court experience from his clerkship and a decade-plus of firm-side litigation work. He advises clients on employment disputes and represents them in litigation and administrative proceedings. He also handles matters that touch on employment policy and internal investigations. He concentrates his practice on labor and employment matters.
