About Brenton
Brenton Bohannon studied psychology at Eckerd College before turning to law at the Appalachian School of Law. He earned a B.A. in psychology and later a J.D. The shift from behavioral science to legal study helped shape an approach that balances factual detail with attention to people.
His professional life began outside the courtroom. In 2005 he worked as a teacher and director in the Okeechobee School District. That early role in education gave him experience managing complex schedules and communicating with diverse communities. He returned to the legal world as a law intern in 2011 with the Commonwealth’s attorney in Buchanan County, then moved into law clerk roles at Bohannon Legal in 2012 and 2013. Those positions led quickly to practice roles: a contract lawyer and then operating under his own name in 2013.
By 2014 his résumé included work as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in New Kent County and a stint at RILEY & WELLS - Lawyers-At-Law. Those roles put him on both sides of the courtroom aisle. He handled prosecutorial responsibilities in the commonwealth’s office and managed casework in private practice. In 2017 he established Bohannon & Associates. That office later became Bohannon & Associates, P.L.L.C., where he continues to practice.
The arc of Bohannon’s career shows a mix of public service and private practice. Time as an assistant commonwealth attorney provided courtroom exposure and an understanding of how local criminal systems operate. Private-practice work required client counseling, case strategy and settlement negotiation. Colleagues and clients have encountered him at arraignments, hearings and in more extended litigation processes.
Today he practices in Virginia through Bohannon & Associates, P.L.L.C. His background spans roles in prosecution, private practice and solo work. He remains engaged in courtroom work and client representation in matters arising under Virginia law. Current practice focuses on representing clients in matters within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
