About Brent Clark
Brent Clark Perry built a legal career that moves between courtrooms and boardrooms. He trained at Baylor University, where he earned a B.A. in economics in 1986, and then completed his J.D. at the University of Chicago in 1989. Those years set the foundation for a practice rooted in civil litigation and federal work.
After law school Perry clerked for the Hon. Ricardo H. Hinojosa in the Southern District of Texas. The clerkship came in 1989 and provided early exposure to the federal docket. He entered private practice the next year as an associate with Baker Botts. By 1993 he had moved to Bracewell & Giuliani as an associate, furthering his litigation experience in Houston.
Perry became a partner in 1997 at Zummo, Mitchell & Perry, LLP. That role placed him more directly in leadership and client management. In 2004 he opened The Law Office of Brent C. Perry, running a solo practice that emphasized trial work and appellate filings. In 2015 he took on the title of managing partner at Burford Perry LLP, a role that added firm administration to the list of responsibilities he handles alongside courtroom work.
He is admitted to practice in Texas and holds appellate admissions in the Fifth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. The Texas Board of Legal Specialization has board certified him in Civil Trial Law, a credential that marks his work in jury and bench trials.
Perry’s professional activities extend beyond cases. He is a member of The Texas Bar College and has been a life fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation. Since 2010 he has been active in the Texas Association of Civil Trial & Appellate Specialists. He has served on the Baylor University Board of Advocates for the College of Arts & Sciences since 2009. Locally, he has taken on multiple leadership posts in the Houston Bar Association and Houston Bar Foundation, including chairing the Federal Practice Section in 2015 and leading the Lawyers Against Waste and AIDS Outreach initiatives.
His civic work includes a long spell with The Bridge Over Trouble Waters, Inc., where he was president from 2001 to 2012. The role tracked with other community and bar commitments he maintained while advancing in private practice.
Perry’s record shows steady progression from clerkship to firm leadership, a path shaped by trial work and appellate practice. He currently practices at Burford Perry LLP and is board certified in civil trial law; his work concentrates on civil trial and related appellate matters.
