About Brenden Patrick
Brenden Patrick Kelley earned his undergraduate degree from Washington & Jefferson College in 2008 and went on to complete his J.D. at Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2015. His law school years overlapped with internships and early courtroom observations that shaped his interest in litigation and professional responsibility. Those formative academic experiences led quickly to bar admissions and entry into practice.
After law school, Kelley began practicing in 2016 as a lawyer at a litigation firm. He spent those years handling contested matters in state and federal court and developing practical courtroom skills. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and he holds admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions have allowed him to take cases at multiple levels of the judiciary and to handle matters that require cross-jurisdictional filings.
Kelley moved into private practice leadership in 2022 when he established Brenden Kelley Law and assumed the role of managing lawyer. Running a small firm broadened his responsibilities. He combined casework with the administrative tasks of running a practice. The change also brought more direct client contact and more control over litigation strategy and case selection.
Professional associations have been part of Kelley’s public profile since the early years of his career. He has held memberships in the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association since 2016. He is also active in groups that intersect with litigation and lawyer ethics: the American Association for Justice and the Ohio Association for Justice, both since 2016, and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers since 2020. Locally, he joined the Geauga County and Lake County bar associations in 2020 and continues those ties today.
Kelley’s courtroom experience spans trial and appellate work. He has handled civil disputes in state courts and federal district court and has prepared filings for matters that reached the nation's highest court. The mix of trial practice and appellate filings reflects the range of matters his clients bring to him.
Those who work with Kelley describe a lawyer who prefers direct, practical problem solving. He writes briefs, argues motions and manages the day-to-day tasks that complex litigation requires. He also attends continuing education and bar programs tied to professional responsibility and trial advocacy.
He now practices at Brenden Kelley Law, where his work addresses civil litigation and professional responsibility matters.
