About Brandon
Brandon Shumaker earned his B.S. from West Virginia University in 2005 and his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 2008. He completed a traditional course of study in Morgantown and remained in the state after graduation. Those years at WVU framed his entry into the state's legal community and provided the foundation for his practice.
After law school, Shumaker began practicing in West Virginia. He is licensed to practice in the state and has built a practice that is rooted in local courts and regulatory systems. Early in his career he handled routine filings, client counseling and courtroom appearances. Over time, his work grew to include more complex matters and broader client responsibilities, giving him experience across several procedural contexts.
Colleagues describe his approach as practical and steady. He tends to emphasize clear communication and thorough preparation when advising clients. He also spends time on case planning and document drafting. That combination helps him manage both contested matters and transactional work for clients who need straightforward legal advice or court representation.
Shumaker practices at Slavey & Shumaker PLLC. At the firm he works with other attorneys and staff to serve a mix of individual and business clients. His role involves direct client contact, representation in court, and handling negotiations when disputes arise. He has experience presenting arguments in state forums and supervising the steps that lead up to filing and trial.
Outside of specific casework, Shumaker has kept close ties to the communities where he grew up and studied. He approaches assignments with an eye toward practical outcomes and tries to explain options in plain terms so clients can make informed decisions. His practice has remained focused on the needs of West Virginia residents and businesses. He currently practices at Slavey & Shumaker PLLC and represents clients in West Virginia.
