About Tyler
Tyler Cottrill graduated from West Virginia University College of Law, where he completed his legal training before returning to practice in his home state. He built his foundation in the classroom and courtroom at WVU and then moved into private practice. His legal education set the stage for a career centered in West Virginia.
After law school he entered the local legal community and rose through responsibilities at TKC Law. In 2019 he was named Lead Lawyer at the firm. That promotion placed him in a position that blends case work with managerial duties. Since then he has led teams on matters handled by the firm and taken a primary role in client intake and file management.
Cottrill is admitted to practice in West Virginia and works regularly in the state’s courts. His work involves managing ongoing matters for individuals and businesses. On any given day he balances client meetings, legal research, and drafting pleadings and agreements. He also appears in court when matters require it and coordinates with opposing counsel and court personnel to move cases forward.
He maintains current memberships in professional legal organizations and participates in bar-related activities. That involvement keeps him connected to peers and to developments in state law. Colleagues describe him as practical and direct in his counsel. He favors clear explanations and straightforward options over legalese, an approach that clients have found useful when decisions must be made under pressure.
At TKC Law he serves as a principal figure in the firm’s day-to-day operations and in legal strategy for client matters. The firm lists him as Lead Lawyer from 2019 onward, and he continues to play a central role in supervising cases and advising clients. He balances the administrative side of running a practice with the demands of individual representation. He currently focuses his practice at TKC Law in West Virginia.
