About Bethany Lee
Bethany Lee Notaro has built a legal career rooted in Pennsylvania courts and alternative dispute resolution. She combines courtroom work with mediation and runs a practice that grew out of a firm she founded in the early 2000s.
Notaro completed a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2001. Those academic years laid the groundwork for a practice that crosses traditional litigation and negotiated solutions.
She launched Notaro & Associates, P.C. in 2003. That step put her in the role of founder and owner and gave her direct control over the cases and services the firm offered. She also maintains an office at Notaro Calabrese & Epstein, P.C., where she continues to see clients and handle matters that range from contested proceedings to settlement conferences.
Notaro has completed professional training in conflict resolution and mediation at the Pittsburgh Mediation Center. That credential appears alongside her active memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect regular participation in the legal community and access to continuing education and professional networks.
Her courtroom work and mediation practice overlap. She represents clients in civil matters and appears in hearings when necessary. At the same time she accepts mediation assignments and uses the skills her certification provided to help parties find negotiated outcomes. Her practice blends advocacy and problem-solving, moving between litigation and facilitated settlement depending on the case.
Colleagues describe her approach as pragmatic. She frames legal questions in plain terms and focuses on practical options for clients. That tendency shapes how she handles intake, prepares for hearings and conducts mediation sessions. She balances the procedural demands of litigation with an eye toward resolution when it is available and appropriate.
Over the years Notaro has kept her work local while maintaining ties to broader professional organizations. She continues to participate in the bar associations that serve Pennsylvania and Allegheny County and remains active in the American Bar Association. Her current practice emphasizes family law, mediation and civil litigation.
