About Beth A.
Beth A. Hurley built a pathway to law that began in social work and anthropology. She earned a B.A. in social work from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994 and added a second B.A. in anthropology in 1998. She later attended Fordham University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2004. Those varied academic interests inform how she approaches cases today.
Early in her legal training she sought exposure to both the bench and public policy. In 2003 she served as a student law clerk to the Honorable Charles P. Mirarchi, Jr. of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. That same year she worked for the Commission to Promote Public Confidence in Judicial Elections as a law clerk. Those roles gave her firsthand experience in courtroom procedure and in the mechanics that surround judicial selection and oversight.
After law school she moved into prosecutorial work. In 2005 she took a position as an assistant district lawyer in Kings County. The job placed her in a busy office handling matters that required courtroom presence and case preparation under tight deadlines. That period sharpened her litigation skills and deepened her familiarity with trial practice.
She has also worked outside the courtroom. In 1998 she was an assistant acquisitions editor at Springhouse Publishing Company, a role that drew on her writing and editorial abilities. Over time she combined those skills with the procedural knowledge gained in clerkships and in the district attorney’s office.
In 2018 she joined Kang Haggerty LLC as an associate. At the firm she brought experience from both public service and earlier legal postings. Her career path shows a mix of litigation, court exposure and legal research. Colleagues describe her as steady in court and exacting in preparation.
She holds admissions in Pennsylvania and New York. She is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar, listed as a member since 2014. Her professional affiliations link her to forums where courtroom practice and attorney standards are discussed and refined.
Hurley’s work reflects a balance of public and private practice. She has moved between roles that demand quick decision-making and those that require careful drafting and review. She currently practices at Kang Haggerty LLC, where she handles litigation and courtroom matters.
