About Benson
Benson Varghese built a legal path that moves from business school to the courtroom. He earned a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 2004 and completed his J.D. at Texas Tech University School of Law in 2009. Those academic steps set up a career centered on criminal law and courtroom work.
He entered public service early. In 2010 he served as an Assistant District Lawyer in the Tarrant County District Lawyer s Office. That period gave him sustained exposure to trial practice and case preparation at the county level. He is admitted to practice in Texas and has admission in the Federal Circuit, which has shaped part of his appellate work.
In 2014 he left public employment and founded Varghese Summersett PLLC. He is the firm s founder and managing partner. At the same time he pursued professional credentials; he is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That certification signals a concentration in criminal litigation rather than a general practice label.
His professional engagements extend beyond the office. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association and the College of the State Bar of Texas. He has been active in organizations tied to criminal defense, including long-standing involvement with the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Bar Association, where he has served as Past President. He also belongs to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and is a member of the Criminal Justice Section of the State Bar of Texas. Other affiliations include the Tarrant County Bar Association since 2009 and a period with the Texas District and County Lawyers Association from 2009 to 2014. He served as an associate member of the Eldon B. Mahon Inns of Court from 2011 to 2013 and holds a lifetime membership in the Christian Trial Lawyers Association.
Colleagues and clients see him most often on criminal matters in Texas courts and on appeals where federal jurisdiction applies. His practice blends trial work with appellate filings and courtroom strategy. He continues to lead Varghese Summersett PLLC and manages the firm s daily operations.
His current practice concentrates on criminal defense in Texas and on cases pursued in the Federal Circuit.
