About Benjamin Stephen
Benjamin Stephen Persons studied history before he went to law school. He earned an A.A. from Young Harris College in 1994, a B.A. in History from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1996, and a J.D. from Mercer University in 1999. Those years set the stage for a career spent largely in litigation and community leadership.
He joined the Georgia State Bar in 2000 and now holds admission to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia and the Northern District of Georgia. Early in his career he moved into trial work. Over time he took on leadership roles in local and state trial lawyer groups and civic boards.
He is the managing partner at The Persons Firm, LLC. In that role he oversees case strategy and the firm’s operations. He has taken cases to trial and argued matters in federal court. Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and steady at the lectern. He served on the Cobb County Bar Association Board of Trustees from 2016 to 2018 and led the Cobb County Trial Lawyers as president during the same period. From 2015 to 2018 he was vice president for Congressional District 6 of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
Beyond the courtroom he has been active in professional and civic organizations. He has been a member of the American Association for Justice since 2010 and remains an active member of the Georgia State Bar. His community roles include service on the Young Harris College Alumni Board of Directors from 2015 to 2018. At Marietta First United Methodist Church he chaired the Church Council and served as lay leader from 2014 to 2016. He also participated on multiple church-related boards tied to local missions and weekday ministry between 2011 and 2014, and led a Habitat for Humanity team from 2007 to 2012.
Persons balances casework with practice management. He advises clients in civil litigation, including personal injury and wrongful death matters, and handles federal court filings when cases require it. He maintains active bar memberships and continues to participate in local bar and community governance. He currently concentrates his practice on representing individuals in civil trial matters.
