About Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin Goodwin built his legal foundation at Saint Vincent College, where he completed a B.S. in economics in 2003. He stayed in western Pennsylvania for law school and earned his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2006. His education set him on a path that mixes courtroom work and legal instruction.

Early in his career Goodwin moved between practice and teaching. He served as an adjunct professor of law at Saint Vincent College in 2009, returning to the campus where he had been a student. A few years later he joined the Fayette County Public Defender’s Office as an assistant public defender in 2012. That post put him in the courtroom regularly and gave him direct experience with trial practice and client advocacy.

Goodwin belongs to the Pennsylvania State Bar and has been a member of the Fayette County Bar Association since 2006. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and holds admission to the U.S. Supreme Court, qualifications that allow him to handle matters at both the state and federal levels. Over time his work has combined courtroom appearances, client counseling and procedural work in appellate settings.

He practices at GOODWIN COMO, P.C., where he continues to appear in Pennsylvania courts. His background in public defense and his appellate admissions inform the way he approaches cases. Colleagues say he brings a methodical approach to case preparation and tries to anticipate the issues that will matter in court.

Outside of litigation, Goodwin’s earlier teaching role signals an interest in legal education and mentoring younger lawyers. He has maintained local bar association ties and participates in the professional life of Fayette County. His current practice at GOODWIN COMO, P.C. involves courtroom litigation in Pennsylvania and representation in matters that may reach federal tribunals.
