About Ben
Ben Akery trained at Emory University School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2008. He left Atlanta with a law degree and returned to the legal community where he had already begun learning the ropes. His legal education provided the foundation for a career that has been centered at one firm since the early 2000s.
He first joined The Steinberg Law Office as a runner in 2002. That early exposure led to a summer law clerk position in 2006, while he was still in law school. After graduation he became an associate at the same firm in 2008. The progression from runner to clerk to associate reflects a steady, hands-on immersion in the firm's day-to-day practice.
Over the years Akery has worked across the firm's locations, including offices in Summerville and Charleston. He has remained on the Steinberg roster while the firm maintained a presence in multiple communities across the region. Colleagues and clients see him as an attorney who knows the local courts and administrative systems where the firm regularly appears.
His professional affiliations underline the areas of law that occupy his attention. He has been a member of the Charleston County Bar Association since 2008 and belongs to Injured Workers Advocates and the South Carolina Association for Justice, also since 2008. That same year he began participating more actively in local bar affairs, serving in leadership roles in the Berkeley County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and on its board of directors during 2009 and 2010.
Akery’s path combines courtroom exposure and administrative practice. He engages in case preparation, client counseling and the procedural aspects of litigation and claims handling that come with practicing in the region. His association memberships suggest regular involvement with matters affecting injured workers and civil justice, and his tenure at one firm has given him continuity in managing those kinds of matters over time.
He currently practices at The Steinberg Law Office, working from the firm’s Summerville and Charleston offices and handling claims involving injured workers and civil justice matters.
