About Belinda L.
Belinda L. Harrison began her legal path in the classroom. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and took her law degree at American University Washington College of Law, graduating in 2001. Those credentials set her up for a practice that has moved between private firms, in-house counsel roles and nonprofit leadership.
Her first position out of law school was as an associate at The Cullen Law Office, PLLC in 2001. Two years later she moved into in-house work as general counsel for the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association. That early shift from a small firm to a trade association exposed her to regulatory issues and member-facing counsel, and it shaped the way she approaches organizational legal work.
Harrison returned to private practice in a senior advisory role in 2009 when she served of counsel at Dentons. The next year she launched her own practice, B. L. Harrison Law, LLC. As founder and principal, she has handled a mix of transactional and advisory matters for clients who range from small businesses to nonprofit entities. Her work since founding the firm has balanced private-client needs and organizational governance issues.
In 2021 she took on the role of general counsel at The Latino Coalition, adding another nonprofit and advocacy dimension to her résumé. Outside the law office she has remained active in community economic development. Harrison has served as president of the Hispanic Economic Development Corporation since 2013 and has sat on the advisory board of Rightfully Sewn since 2016. Those positions underscore her ongoing engagement with business development and community-focused programs.
Harrison holds certifications from the Missouri State Bar as a guardian ad litem and as a mediator. She is licensed to practice in Maryland, Missouri and the District of Columbia. Those credentials reflect a practice that includes dispute-resolution skills and court-appointed responsibilities in addition to counsel work.
Her career profile is a steady mix of in-house counsel experience, private practice and nonprofit leadership. She brings practical experience advising organizations, handling transactional matters and serving in dispute-resolution roles. She currently practices through B. L. Harrison Law, LLC, providing counsel to organizations, handling transactional matters and serving as a mediator and guardian ad litem.
