About Beau
Beau Ellis built his academic foundation in the Pacific Northwest. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business Management from Oregon State University in 2005. He then turned to law, receiving his Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2009.
Ellis’s trajectory moved from agribusiness into litigation and courtroom practice. The combination of a business undergraduate degree and a law degree shaped how he approaches legal problems. He has training in both fields and applies practical thinking to legal strategy.
Over the years Ellis gained admission to practice in Oregon and in federal courts. He is admitted to the Oregon bar, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Those credentials allow him to represent clients in state and federal matters and to bring appeals in the Ninth Circuit when cases proceed beyond the district level.
He is based at Vial Fotheringham LLP. At the firm he works alongside colleagues on matters that come before Oregon state and federal tribunals. He has experience preparing filings, briefing appeals, and appearing in court, contributing to cases that require both trial and appellate work.
Colleagues describe him as steady in court and careful on paper. He prefers clear arguments and straightforward advocacy. He prepares witnesses, develops case themes, and places emphasis on legal analysis that holds up under cross-examination and appellate review. Clients see him as someone who explains complex legal points in direct terms.
Outside the courthouse Ellis maintains ties to the legal community in Oregon. He keeps up with changes in federal and state procedure and follows developments in appellate law that affect practitioners in the Ninth Circuit. He draws on his background in business when addressing disputes that touch on agricultural enterprises or commercial operations.
His work remains centered on representing clients in both trial and appellate settings. He practices in state and federal courts, representing clients in matters before the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon and the Ninth Circuit, as well as in Oregon state courts.
