About Bartley
Bartley Herron has built a legal career around courtroom work and community involvement. He earned a B.A. from Ohio State University in 1990 and returned to Columbus to complete his J.D. in 1995. Those academic years set the stage for a practice based in Oregon that has evolved for more than two decades.
Three years after finishing law school Herron took the role of managing lawyer at Herron Law. He established his practice in Portland and has been identified with that office since 1998. Over time his filings and professional memberships show a pattern of trial work and federal admissions that track a lawyer who spends significant time on litigation.
Herron holds admissions to federal courts. He has been a member of the bar of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon since 2005 and of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit since 2008. On the local level he has been active in the Clackamas County Bar Association since 1999 and in regional legal organizations that include criminal defense and federal practice groups.
Professional associations form a long list. Herron belongs to the Federal Bar Association and the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, both since 2005. He joined the National Trial Lawyers Association and the MVTLA in 2014, and added membership in the American Association for Justice in 2016. Other organizational ties include AATA and NAFDD, both noted from 2015 to the present. These affiliations correspond to years of trial and courtroom practice rather than primarily transactional work.
Beyond organizational membership Herron has been involved in community-focused legal projects. He served on the founding board of the Clackamas County Community Court beginning in 2006 and participated on its steering committee from 2007 to 2009. That role placed him at the intersection of local justice initiatives and court reform efforts in Clackamas County.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe Herron as steady in court and prepared at hearing. He has pursued litigation across state and federal forums and maintains the procedural knowledge necessary for trial practice. The firm he manages, Herron Law, lists its Portland office as the base for that work.
He currently handles personal injury matters and related litigation out of his Portland office at Herron Law.
